news: Shaping Tomorrow | Introducing Our Five New Graduates

We are excited to welcome Beth to our Nottingham office, Arben and Billy to our London team, and Saima and Jen to our Birmingham and Manchester offices, respectively. They are all joining our SUNRISE graduate programme, which will support their professional development as they embark on their careers in transport planning. Here’s a little more about each of them…

Beth Fowler, Graduate Consultant

Beth recently graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BSc in Geography. During her second year, she interned at ITP, working on improving the bus services in Derbyshire. Now, as a graduate consultant in the environment practice, she is already supporting the team with the development of an offshore wind farm near Yorkshire. Beth looks forward to exploring sustainable solutions to transport issues, particularly using her skills in GIS.

Outside of work, she enjoys baking, travelling, and spending time with her dogs.

Arben Krasniqi round

Arben Krasniqi, Graduate Consultant

Arben recently graduated from Newcastle University with an integrated Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (MEng). Returning to his home city of London, he joins ITP with a keen interest in projects that utilise technological innovation to enhance future travel. Arben is particularly fascinated by how advancements in microsimulation software can bridge the visualisation gap between planners and clients.

In his free time, Arben enjoys hiking and exploring nature. He likes to travel when he can and went to Peru earlier this year as part of a university expedition, where he enjoyed the natural sites and the historical city of Cusco.

Jennifer Finch, Graduate Engineer

Jennifer recently graduated with a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Civil Engineering from Newcastle University. She has since joined our Manchester office as part of the civil design team, where she is eager to put the technical knowledge and skills acquired during her degree into practice on a variety of real-world infrastructure projects. Jennifer is especially passionate about improving highways to enhance connectivity, efficiency, and sustainability in urban areas. She is already contributing to the team by assisting in the design of Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) schemes.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys snow sports, particularly slalom skiing and snowboarding, where she trains frequently in the indoor ski slope in Manchester.

Billy Thornett round

Billy Thornett, Graduate Consultant

Billy graduated in 2023 from the University of Nottingham with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. His dissertation assessed the impact of various sustainable transport investments in reducing UK GHG emissions, with an emphasis on economic sustainability and social value. With a keen eye for construction logistics and buildability, Billy is excited to start delivering sustainable transport and urban improvement projects, especially active travel schemes. He has been inspired by international best practices observed while travelling in Europe this summer.

Billy enjoys exploring new cities by bicycle, volunteering at music festivals and hiking. He also loves improving his cooking abilities and enjoys learning about ecology and ecosystems.

Saima Rasool, Graduate Consultant

Saima recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA in Geography. During her studies, she developed a keen interest in sustainability and inclusivity in urban environments and is hoping to better understand the role of transport infrastructure in everyday life. Currently based in the public transport team at our Birmingham office, Saima is excited to learn more about transport networks and travel choices while also developing her GIS skills.

Outside of work, Saima enjoys travelling and exploring new places, both in the UK and abroad, with city breaks being a particular favourite. She also enjoys baking, reading and watching sports such as tennis.

Saima Rasool Round
