news: Four new starters at ITP to kick off the new year

ITP is pleased to have welcomed four new members to our ever-growing team over the past few months. James and Ben who are based in London, Moshi who is based in Birmingham and Manchester and Ed who is based in Nottingham. As always, we sat down to find a little more about each of them…

Moshi - Technical Director

Having developed an impressive CV of international work over the past 16 years, Moshiuzzaman Mahmud brings his expertise in transport planning and economics to ITP’s public transport team. Moshi has worked in over 22 countries spanning Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa and in that time, he has worked in urban and rural transport across all sectors. Recently Moshi worked on two national multi-modal transport strategies in Malawi and Kenya.

Moshi Mahmud

Moshi’s work is increasingly focusing on low carbon mobility, he has been working to review and develop critical policy conclusions on the impacts of electric vehicle adoption in low, middle and high-income countries. Outside of work Moshi loves travelling, exploring new cultures and food, doing a bit of gardening in the summer and playing the guitar when he gets some free time.

Ed - Associate

Ed Ducker has been working in transport planning and traffic engineering over the past 20 years. Ed joins our transport strategy team where he is already using his impressive capabilities to appraise options for walking, cycling and public transport improvements, to undertake network planning for a proposed light-rail system and to produce business cases for the Transforming Cities Fund.

Ed Ducker

Ed is particularly interested in active modes, place making and master planning. Being passionate about transport, he enjoys thinking of new transport options for studies and appraising their likely success, he also likes learning from previous project experience and trying to apply this in new and improved ways. Ed is also currently working towards his Transport Planning Professionals Chartered status and hopes to sit his professional review later this year.

Outside of work Ed enjoys running (he has just signed up for the Sheffield half marathon) and watching sports – whenever his kids will let him!

James - Senior Consultant

James Evans joins ITP’s international sector, having worked as a transport economist for the past 5 years in the international development sector. His experience includes economic assessment and analysis of road maintenance and urban transport projects, as well as managing institutional strengthening, road safety, rural access research and road asset management projects across Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean for a variety of donors and clients.

Always looking to be outside his comfort zone, James enjoys travelling and exploring new places off the beaten track - his experience volunteering and living with the Maasai tribe in Tanzania is one such example! When pandemics strike, James can instead often be found watching the football.

Ben - Consultant

Ben graduated from the University of Westminster with a masters in Transport Planning and Management after completing his Undergraduate Degree in Leeds. Working in the Policy and Strategy team Ben will be using his GIS skills to give a baseline understanding to most projects and masterplans. Ben is also very keen on projects which encourage active travel and reduce severance in society.

An interesting fact about Ben is that he went on a 3-week expedition to Peru in 2017 which included Tom Holland’s brother who was at his school at the time. Ben last went on holiday to Lanzarote and is looking forward to finally getting back to the slopes in Val Thorens after a 4-year absence this Easter.

We're currently recruiting for Senior and Principal Transport Planners and Public Transport Planners. If you'd like to join our team please get in touch.
