news: ITP welcomes four new members of the team
Thursday 3rd June 2021
It's been a busy few months at ITP as we have welcomed four new members of staff to the team. Jenny, Samuel and James will be based in our Birmingham office while Francesca will be based in Nottingham. We are very excited to have them on board and look forward to the new experience and enthusiasm they will bring to the wider ITP team.
Let's find out a bit more about them shall we...
Jenny Paxton, Senior Consultant
Jenny has five years’ experience as a Transport Planning Consultant, which she started after completing her degree in Economics and Geography. Living and working in Birmingham, she enjoys seeing the development of multi-modal transport solutions in the city.
Her experience covers many areas of transport planning, including options assessments, strategy development and business cases for clients across the UK. She has also worked on private sector projects producing Transport Assessments and site-wide transport strategies for large residential development sites.
Sitting in ITP's Policy and Strategy Team, she's applying her skills to a new land use planning study and bus services delivery business case. Outside work, Jenny enjoys attempting to improve her creative skills at art classes, exploring the countryside or visiting friends who would describe her as creative, organised and thoughtful.
James Ford, Consultant
With a degree in Geography, James has keen interests in GIS, working with large datasets, and shaping sustainable travel solutions. An active member of the Transport for West Midlands Youth Forum, James became passionate about transport planning and joined the Public Transport Team at ITP shortly after graduating in 2020. Since joining, James has been working on projects to support the National Bus Strategy and Enhanced Partnerships where he has been able to utilise various GIS skills to produce outputs for reports and clients.
Away from work, James spends his spare time exploring the city of Birmingham, and the West Midlands more generally, getting to grips with film photography and working on various art projects. His friends would describe him as funny, caring, and creative.
Francesca Smith, Consultant
Francesca graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in civil engineering and spent three years in consultancy, before a move to an operational role with TUI Airways (tackling 12 hour day and night shifts). She has previously provided private and public sector clients with feasibility and detailed designs for new cycle and walking infrastructure across the UK to encourage active travel, whilst also working on London Luton Airport’s Development Consent Order to support a doubling in the airport’s capacity.
She has recently joined ITP's Policy and Strategy team, working on projects to develop a transport evidence base for a local plan growth study, transport assessments and parking strategies.
Her hidden talent is that she can recall all 193 member states of the United Nations, and friends would describe her as laid-back but not afraid to let her competitive side out once in a while!
Samuel Islam, Consultant
Samuel comes to ITP fresh out of university after studying Civil Engineering in Newcastle. Samuel is currently working within ITP’s international team where he is using GIS to perform a road network analysis for a project in Rwanda. His role in the international team has also included completing data analysis for a project in the South Caucasus.
When asked if he has ever had any nicknames, Samuel told us in school though he had the nickname “Sis” after friends merged his first and last names together… “how creative” Samuel adds. Friends would describe him as optimistic, an opportunist and driven.
We're always looking for exceptional people to join our ever-growing team. Please visit our Working at ITP page the latest vacancies or Get In Touch.
