In 2012, ITP completed the Cebu City BRT Feasibility Study in the Philippines and supported DOTC through approvals at city, RDC and national (NEDA) levels. Our work on this project was wide-ranging and included advising on route identification, strategies to reduce emission rates, engineering specifications, demand forecasting, financial, economic and environmental appraisal.
In addition, we were responsible for the marketing and communications strategy for the study aimed not only at obtaining public approval but also in changing the mindset of the people who will be using the system. This included drawing up an engagement plan for local and regional media liaison and conducting outreach activities including stakeholder consultation and engagement workshops.
Our work sealed Presidential approval for the route, with operations scheduled to start by December 2021.
