Tim Edwards BSc (Hons) MSc

Tim Edwards

Tim Edwards is a Principal Transport Planner with ITP and an experienced transport practitioner with nearly ten years’ experience in the industry. In this time he has gained a wide range of experience in both operations and policy aspects of passenger transport provision. His specialities include concessionary fares, public transport operations, review and strategy, and education transport. Throughout his career Tim has undertaken a number of secondments which gives him first hand exposure to working within local authorities, including PTE’s, rural counties and small unitary authorities

Tim’s work is driven by the belief that transport is a means to an end that, when not considered properly, can have adverse social, economic and environmental implications. This has been the overriding principle behind all the review work that Tim has undertaken, which has included reviewing transport operations, policy and procedures.

Tim is a skilled project manager who has had responsibility for the management and administration of a number of English National Concessionary Travel Schemes (ENCTS) across the country. He currently oversees the administration and management of the Brighton and Hove scheme, as well as the Wiltshire and Swindon schemes. His concessionary travel experience includes young people’s concessionary travel schemes, overseeing a number of projects that have considered the cost and social implications of introducing concessions for young people.   For his MSc, Tim investigated the impact of discount travel schemes for 16-19 year olds on retention in education.
